Another successful show is in the books!
Thank you to everyone who came out this past Saturday despite the rain and weather earlier on in the day. It ended up being the most perfect, beautiful day for a barrel race and we ended up with almost 80 entries in the Open. Thank you to Rayner Taylor for being such a great host and for all her hard work to get the pen ready for Saturday. The ground was fabulous and we had some smokin' fast times!
Points have been updated on the website, as well as member work hours. Thank you to all who helped out with announcing, barrel setting, and everything else it takes to make a barrel race run smoothly. A lot of you have already or have almost completed your required 4 work hours for the year, but don't forget that work hours will be used as tie breakers for awards at the end of the year. We will no longer be having run offs or flipping coins. Whoever has the most work hours will be the member to win the tie! Work hours can also be bought for $25 an hour. All monies collected from work hours will go straight into the awards fund. I have also had a couple people donate awards for work hours and that can be worked out with me as well! Please remember, that we have a log book for work hours now. It will be at the sign up booth at each and every race. You must sign in and out of the log book to get your total amount of hours for the show. I will be doing a free entry drawing after each race on Facebook, for each member who completed at least one(1) work hour at that show. This is to try to help encourage members to complete their required work hours and keep from having the same members doing it every time. We really do need help guys, especially with barrel setting during the Open.
Our next show is March 25th. This will be a Platinum Barrel Series co sanctioned sho at Syrup City Saddle Club in Cairo, GA. Exhibitions will begin at 11am with Open starting at 1pm EST. We will also go back to the sign up sheet at the exhibition line since we will only have two hours to complete the exhibitions. You may go only two times in a row and then must start at the end of the list again once the line starts to get busy. So I will need someone to work the exhibition line. If you are able to please contact me. No exhibition tickets will be sold after 12:30p. Please remember that Open entries will close at 12:50p!!
We have $800 added so far to this race. $250 is added to the PBS and $250 added to NBHA Open. Both are WPRA approved. $50 is added to each Youth, also WPRA approved. There is also an Open PBS Side Pot with $200 added that is WPRA approved and a WBRL approved Side Pot is being offered for a $20 entry fee. PBS, NBHA, and WBRL membership forms will be available at the sign up booth.
2017 State Show information and entry forms have been posted to the website.
March 1st is the LAST DAY to get in your applications to me for the Youth World benefit race on May 20th! I will be announcing a list of all our Youth members who will be benefiting from show.
Thanks and I hope to see everyone at the Run for Malachi Benefit Barrel Race this Sunday Feb, 26th at Evil Twin Farms!

Thanks for a successful first show. The points have now been updated on the website. If you see any errors or have any questions, please feel free to call or text me.
A couple other things, our next FL 01 show is Feb 18th at Rayner Taylor's. Exhibition will begin at 11a and the show will start at 1p EST. I need barrel setters and also a tractor driver for this show if any husbands or boyfriends want to volunteer! Please remember that Open entries close at 12:50p in order to insure that the show begins on time. All classes are $20 each. We have $250 added to the Open and $50 added to the Youth. Both classes are also WPRA approved. We will also have a WBRL approved side pot. Pre entries for this show are now open. if you have any questions or concerns about the show or pre entering feel free to contact me.
Our next FL 01 and PBS co sanctioned show is March 25th in Cairo, GA. This will be a DOUBLE POINTS show. We already have a total of $800 added between both FL 01 and PBS and if anyone has any ideas of getting more to reach $1,000 please contact me.
I have made a page for PBS on the FL 01 website so it is easier to access for everyone interested. It will have show dates, points, and updates available for you. Please be aware that PBS is following all NBHA rules and FL 01 guidelines. More details about PBS finals will be available soon! It's going to be pretty exciting this year.
Our Youth World benefit show has been scheduled for May 20th at Skeet Davis Arena. All FL 01 Youth riders who want to benefit from this race must have their applications turned in to me by March 1st. I also need help with trying to promote other fundraisers for the race such as silent auction and raffle items, added money, and any other kind of way to help raise more money. If you have an idea, please contact me.
If you have any questions about last year's awards please contact Dana. Information on if you received awards or qualified for World can be found on the website.
Please refer to the District Guidelines page for a couple new updates. Please familiarize yourself with all NBHA and district rules. If you are unsure of something, ask.
One more thing I want everyone to be aware of now: Checks will not be available to pick up until the end of the show. We will post the results for each class as soon as the last horse runs and we get them printed so you can see if you placed or not. You may have someone pick up your check for you if you have to leave, but they must sign for it. You may also leave a stamped and addressed envelope at the sign up booth and I will mail it out the Monday after the show. Any unpicked up checks will be available in a folder at the sign up booth at the next show, any checks that are not picked up after 60 days will be voided. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. When picking up checks at a show, please be patient and form a line.
Thanks guys. Hope to see everyone at WBRL Finals next weekend. Good luck to all of our 01 members going!

I just wanted to take a moment to tell everyone, thank you for welcoming me into this new position. I appreciate all the continued support from each and everyone of you guys. This is going to be a fun journey and I know some of you are a little skeptical about some of the changes that are being made, but I really believe it will all be to benefit the district and every member.
So on that note, I have made some updates to our website. I would like for all of you to please take a moment to read the guidelines page. There are lots of useful, important information there everyone needs to be updated about.
Our first race of the 2017 year will be on Jan, 28th at Wakulla County Horseman's Association. Exhibition will begin at 11a and Open at 1p EST. Please be sure like I said to read all of the district guidelines so you are aware of cut off times, entry fees, payout information, ect. Please refer to our Facebook page for immediate updates on shows.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at anytime. My contact information is posted here on the website and you can always reach out to me on Facebook.
Thanks everyone! See you soon.

Hi Guys, I need to pass the word about a few reminders before our finals show on Saturday, December 10, at Evil Twin Farms.
We may not be paying off until after the end of the show on Saturday due to the importance of making sure that all points are correctly totaled. Members that are running for District Points will need to stay until after we have finalized points for run offs. If you leave and you are tied with another member for year-end awards, the tie will be awarded to the member present. If both members have left, I will break the tie by flipping a coin. This does not apply to World Points. Make sure that you sign up for ALL CLASSES before Open starts. After the first horse runs in the open classes we will close the books.
This year we will be sending 10 places for each division to World. All riders tied for 10th will go.
Our awards banquet is scheduled for February 3, 2017, at 6:00 pm. It will be held at the City of Tallahassee, City Hall, Tallahassee Room, 300 South Adams Street, Tallahassee, 32301. The cost per plate will be $20.00 Adult and $15 Youth. Please purchase your tickets by January 10th, if you are attending.
After 5 years I am stepping down as Director and Crystal Rutten has agreed to take over. I believe she will be an asset to our district; please help her out in any way you can. As you know, it takes help from all members to make our shows great. I would like to thank everyone for all their encouragement, understanding, and help over the past five years. I believe our district has grown in positive and exciting ways and will continue to do so with Crystal taking over.
Thank you Everyone and Merry Christmas! Dana
